"Superimposition of images of the tsunami and our planet viewed from space, convinced me that space-based resources can make an essential contribution to the management of human crises such as epidemics, natural and industrial disasters, etc.

In response to my request of January 2005, the leading French enterprises and institutions agreed without hesitation to pool their skills and expertise, recognised round the globe, to collaborate in the design of an innovative technological tool at the service of humanitarian aid actions.

Communications, networking, data gathering and anticipation represent as many keys to the success of coordinated actions in this domain.

I hope that Emergesat will be in a position, in the very near future, to support and enhance the work of all players who come to the aid of disaster victims, and who are involved in the saving of human lives."
